Wireless solutions provider hopes to hike earnings after bagging e-services awa

A local enterprise and wireless solutions provider expects to earn PhP4 million this year after winning the grand prize for its wireless application solution.

GiveMe Unlimited, Inc., bagged for the second time the top prize for the e-Services Wireless/ Mobile Application for its 'infoTXT' product. The award was given during the the recently held 4th e-Services Philippines outsourcing show which is organized annually by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM).

GiveMe'senhanced wireless solution "infoTXT" Messaging Platform was again named the Best Product Award for Mobile Applications for 2004. It also won in the same category last year.

InfoTXT integrates short messaging system (SMS) mobile telephony with desktop computing. It allows companies to send and receive text messages using personal computers (PCs) and facilitates retrieval of information through SMS.

The InfoTXT software can be interfaced with any enterprise system. It can be used to respond to customer inquiries, announce product offerings and events, update customers or employees with new information, communicate alerts, track shipments, and broadcast job openings, power interruptions, company procedures or virtually any information.

Theadditional features for this year's entry include a reversible SMS to e-mail system, a message folder, anauto-routing of messages facility and voice integration.

GiveMe's president and chief operating officer (CEO)Erick S. Kalugdan saidin an interview that this year's revenue forecast is based on the results of their victory in 2003.

From only three clients, Mr. Kalugdan reported that its customers grew to over 30 after winning the e-services awards. It also forged reseller alliances with both smalland big name industry players, and expanded its network of contacts from less than 200 to over 3,000.

He said thatInfoTXT sold over 40 licenses with a value of PhP2.4 million in just eight months after the 2003 exhibit. He added that in less than a year, they closed over 40 contractson their own, excluding those generated by their network of resellers. Their user network extends to hotels, retailers, power and utilities, shipping, manufacturing and the public sector.

GiveMe Unlimited was established in 2001 with lessthan five employees. Mr. Kalugdan said that their sales revenues in 2002 was only PhP100,000 but it reached PhP2.4 million when they started marketing their product after winning the Best Product Award in 2003.

Among GiveMe's clients are Caltex Philippines, Shangri-La Hotel Makati, Hotel Intercontinental Manila, Manulife, Forex Cargo, Maersk Filipinas, and the National Transmission Corporation. They use InfoTXT for sales, marketing, distribution, operations, and customer service processes.

GiveMe is a family-owned corporation, where Mr. Kalugdan holds about 94% of the company share.

Meanwhile, a Cebu-based business software solutions provider, Primary Software Development Corp (Primasoft)., bagged the Best Product Award for the Education category. Its product, the Prime 3D Verve/ Assemblage,is a cheaper three-dimension (3D) animation learning tool.

Angelico L. Jurado, the research and development manager of Primasoft, said that their software is geared towards further enhancement of the local animation industry.

Other winnersinclude Sprint Software, for their Local Government System software, in the Business software category and Stag Philippines, Inc., for their Clinic Operations Management Plus System (COMPLUS) for the Health category. -- Maricel E. Estavillo
